Wolfgang Steffen (1923-1993) was one of Germany’s leading composers of his generation, and with the exception of opera his compositional output encompasses nearly all genres. He is also fondly remembered for his outstanding teaching as a long serving professor of music theory at the Berlin Hochschule der Kunste. Today his music is seldom performed and few of his works have been recorded.
