This concert features Australian saxophonist Amy Dickson, together with pianist Gabi Sultana, the Young Artist Festival Fellow string players and Ensemble Offspring. In a tribute to the great Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe, Amy Dickson presents the Australian premiere of Sculthorpe’s 2012 concerto for saxophone, ‘Island Songs’. Other works will include the world premiere of Brian Howard’s ‘Full Fathom Five (after Jackson Pollock)’, Kate Moore’s ecstatic movement for cello ‘Velvet’, an ‘Étude’ by Jörg Widmann, and John Adams’ ‘Shaker Loops’.
